Tilt Trio/

Music band

Tilt is a music band founded by three lebanese musicians, composers, and friends: farah kaddour (buzuq player), samah boulmona (arabic accordion player), and ali hout (percussionist).

The band emerged after the trio had spent many years performing together in various collaborations in lebanon and abroad. In april 2023, the trio decided to hold their first artistic residency as a group, during which they named the band tilt. They developed several musical pieces that they had previously begun composing individually and collectively. Following this, they held several concerts in paris and beirut.

In late summer 2024, the trio participated in an album produced by beirut & beyond to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Under the musical direction of composer and musician bashar khalifeh, they recorded their first piece titled "sab’e ard" (seventh earth). Initially, tilt’s musical program was divided into two parts: performing songs by lebanese musician zaki nassif and folk songs from the levant’s heritage, and the second part featuring their original compositions.

Over time, however, the section featuring original compositions began to dominate their program. This shift aligns with the group’s future plans to move toward a program entirely composed of their own works. To date, these compositions are instrumental (without lyrics) and characterized by an acoustic sound, free of any electronic effects. The purpose of this transition from preserved heritage to original compositions reflects the trio's belief in the path of musical innovation and renewal, a process that tilt has undergone naturally.

Within less than two years, the group has become part of the music scene in beirut, particularly in the field of arabic music. This development has motivated kaddour, boulmona, and hout to begin recording their first album.

Residency project:

A dynamic two-week residency to craft original, yet traditional sound rooted with the laventine.
