Tetiana Cheprasova (1979, Lugansk) lives in Paris. She is a visual artist and teacher. Her practice focuses on the themes of human relationships and war. Inspired by painting, drawing and classical sculpture, the artist experiments with different techniques, mixing different styles and perspectives. In 1997, she graduated from the Lugansk School of Fine Arts. In 2006, she obtained a master's degree from the National Academy of Arts in Kiev (department of easel graphics). Cheprasova's most important projects include: Element Art and - facts (2014, Ukrainian Cultural Centre, Paris, France), the presidential exhibition Guide Me Through Maidan (2017, Mistetskyi Arsenal, Kyiv, Ukraine), and the group exhibition STOP WARS (2022, Magasins généraux, Pantin, France). Since 2022, Tetiana Cheprasova has been living in Paris, working on projects related to corporeality and psychology. She is a member of the Artists in Exile workshop.
Tetiana Cheprasova seeks to translate the state of the world through painting, drawing, sculpture and installation, based on archives and documentary photographs. The 2014 Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine marked a new stage in the artist's practice. She participated in the demonstrations in Kiev and launched the Artil Maidan project. There, she created a large series of paintings on the helmets and shields of the demonstrators, as well as frescoes capturing the events of the revolution from the inside. In the same vein, since 2022, the artist has been producing several series of works on the theme of the war in Ukraine. At the same time, she is developing a series of site-specific projects related to heritage and cultural figures.
