An Italian dancer and choreographer, Lucia Citterio carries out experimental research on the relationships between the body and the exterior world.

The Italian dancer and choreographer Lucia Citterio studied classical dance, obtaining her Diploma in Contemporary Dance from the Bella Hutter Dance School in Turin. Moving to Paris, she continued her studies in contemporary dance, butoh and African expressionist dance, and also practised aikido. She went on to work with several dance companies in Italy, France and Belgium, as well as dancing as a soloist, creating an installation for a single spectator and performing at numerous public events. She works in Rome and Japan with the choreographer Tanaka Min, and collaborates with musician Andy Moor (The Ex, Amsterdam). She also works in Benin for the event Les feuilles, a production by the Haus der Kulturen der Weld in Berlin, and gives regular training courses to resident artists in Dakar. She has been invited to the festival Danza en Paisajes Urbanos in Cuba, to Porto Alegre in Brazil for a conference-performance at the arts gallery of the city’s cultural foundation, and to Caxias do Sul for a training course with the city’s Companhia Municipal de Dança. Lucia Citterio was invited by the Institut Français to undertake an creative residency and tour of Senegal, and in May 2014 was a resident artist at the Château de Goutelas. She has run internships in Italy and other countries, and studies the links between the body and the exterior world.

In 2018, Lucia Citterio spent three months as artist in residence at the Domaine de Kerguéhennec, where she continued her research on the links between the body and the environment with a project entitled Body Weather – Body Landscape. She sought to examine the relationship between the body and its surroundings, transforming her body into a sensory map reflecting its environment and creating a material journey of her time at the Domaine.
