Actor & Writer

Fama Mademba Sacko is a young actor, author and cultural journalist from Mali.

Passionate about writing since childhood, Fama Mademba began his training at a journalism school in Bamako. Captivated by theater during his brief career as a radio journalist, he joined the Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers Multimédia Balla Fasséké Kouyaté in Bamako in 2017 and graduated in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in theater. He participated in several writing residencies during which he wrote his very first play, Lettre à Tiffany, written and performed as part of the emerging writers' program at the Les Praticables 2021 festival. It was then rewritten as part of a cross-residency, with the first phase of writing taking place at the John Smith International Cultural Center in Ouidah, Benin, and the second phase at La Chartreuse-Cnes. This cross-residency was part of the ACCR's Odyssée grant program, with the support of the Chartreuse-Cnes. He also wrote Un Baiser d'enfer (working title) as part of the Nouvelle École Usine de la Formation NEUF drama workshop, which was scheduled to be released at the Le Théâtre des Réalités festival in May 2023. In the same year, he joined the Univers des Mots festival in Guinea Conakry, where he wrote Le voile Maudit (working title), read at the Franco-Guinean Cultural Center during the festival in October 2023.
