Avi Albers Ben Chamo was born in Haifa, Israel, in 1973. He studied double bass with Martin Gregg in Palma de Mallorca and with Carmelo Leotta in Berlin. In 2011 he founded the online community "Jazzy Berlin", a travel guide and directory for jazz events in Berlin. Since 2012 he has organized the "Jazzy Berlin Jam Session" in local clubs such as KaterHolzig, Neue Heimat, Klunkerkranich and Gretchen with the aim of making jazz in Berlin accessible to a young audience. He is also a painter. His work "Touch” is in the collection of the Villa Zeligman in Hanover and the Museum San Rocco for contemporary art in Italy. His last work "Kriah" was presented this December 2024 at the Wallraf Richartz Museum, Koln and he is presenting his work regularly at group exhibition in Atelier Kreuzberg in Berlin.
The Jewish Chorales Project is a collection of short vocal compositions for choir (SATB) with traditional and contemporary Jewish texts in Hebrew. The compositions are by Avi Albers Ben Chamo and include well-known chorales and pieces by J.S. Bach in German and Hebrew.
