A Palestinian from Syria, Abdulmajeed Haydar has devoted his life to language and writing.

He studied Arabic literature at the University of Damascus and works as an editor and proof-reader for numerous journals and magazines. He wrote his first screenplay in 1992 and is the author of many TV series, radio soap operas, films

and plays. His refusal to support President Bashar al-Assad forced him to flee to Lebanon and then to France, where he has been living since 2016 as a member of the Atelier des Artistes en exil (Agency of Artists in Exile).

The project he worked on during his residency at the Saline Royale at the start of 2020 consisted of the theatre work Lorsque le bien-aimé s'attendrit. With this piece, he intends to throw a spotlight on the psychological and emotional damage inflicted on the Syrian people by the Bashar al-Assad regime, through the intertwined journeys of three characters.
