Living and working in Bangkok, Thailand, Narissara Pianwimungsa has been a painter since she received both M.FA. and B.F.A. in painting from Silpakorn University. While away from the exhibition world, she has been expanding her artistic skills to include other forms ranging from poetry to a book compiling her often unsettling thoughts and also working with street artist friends.
Her artist-in-residency at Château de l’Esparrou is the occasion of developing her projet ‘The Space Between Us’. The project started from the idea that there are two profound tragedies of the human condition : Loneliness is a tragedy of space. Impermanence is a tragedy of time. Trying to subvert these feelings is an attempt to find its ‘opposite’. It is ‘Intimacy’. So, she will conduct research on every visual and text as much as possible by making conversations and studying relations between men, culture and philosophy in order to see if anything missing, added or distorted from her previous knowledge. The obtained information will be interpreted and presented from her perspective through paintings that combine images and texts together.
