Residency project :

« Our project will consist of exploring French baroque music originally intended for harpsichord as trio sonatas. The trio sonata was the dominant chamber music configuration across Europe in the 17th and 18th century, and is most often associated with Italianate musical writing. In the French Baroque, the trio sonata is represented by works of Couperin and Rebel, but the most substantial repertoires are for solo keyboard or violin with continuo. However, it was common in the Baroque period in France to rework pieces for different instrumentations. This could consist of additional melodic lines, or contreparties written for lutes and harpsichords to accompany each other. »
