Since Thursday the 26th of June 2025, Gersende Michel has been the new director of the Ferme de Villefavard in Limousin. A director and artistic director for 25 years in the fields of opera, theatre and poetry, she will take up her position at the head of Centre culturel de rencontre on the 1st of October.

Together with artists, she explores what transforms us and connects us through contact with the arts and cultures. Committed to projects rooted in the local area and driven by strong human values, she champions authentic relationships between works, artists and people. Through her project Pour un monde en commun (For a world in common), Gersende Michel hopes to develop an ambitious musical project with the team at La Ferme and all local and institutional partners, contributing to the collective development of a more desirable future, a world in common where everyone can live better.

Keen to offer a resolutely modern vision of musical creation that resonates with the expectations of the region's inhabitants, Gersende Michel will propose major social themes for the next four seasons, in which music will engage with the issues of our time: music and new narratives, music and celebration of life, music for all seasons, ensemble music, and music together.

Fidel to the legacy of Sébastien Mahieuxe, former director who left to join the EPCC La Barcarolle in Saint-Omer, the place of music in the Cultural Meeting Centre's project will be reinforced: welcoming musicians in residence for creation and recording, musical ensembles associated with the centre over several seasons, discovering and supporting young talent, a rich musical season with a particular focus on the place of women musicians in the programme (instrumentalists, composers, conductors, etc.), strengthening cultural activities aimed at young people in the region (...).

With this ambitious project, Gersende Michel aims to make the Ferme de Villefavard in Limousin – Centre culturel de rencontre a place of convergence, a privileged venue for sharing, dreaming and inventing through music. It is with a demanding, joyful and deeply collective vision that she will take over the management of this emblematic venue dedicated to classical music.
