Nathan Magoola is a prolific Ugandan filmmaker who is currently working on a feature film telling the story of a teenager living on a rubbish dump in Uganda.

Nathan Magoola is a filmmaker, publicist, director and producer who was born in Jinja, Uganda, in 1978. In 2001 he moved to the United States to study coding at St Paul College in Minnesota. In 2008 he worked as associate producer on his first film, which was selected by the Berlin Film Festival and numerous other festivals. In 2009, Nathan returned to Uganda and founded Ntice Mediaworks, a production company which produces feature films, shorts, documentaries, promos and adverts. Subsequently, he has participated in many projects including the short film Reflection for the Olafur Eliasson exhibition at the Tate Modern in London, the feature film Felistas Fable, which was selected for the Gothenburg Film Festival, and the short film Walk with me, selected for the Rotterdam Film Festival.

In 2018, Nathan Magoola spent a month as artist in residence at the Abbaye de Saint-Jean-d’Angély, where he worked on the screenplay of the short film ZONTO, which had been selected for the 2013 Campus des Talents and which he wanted to turn into a feature film. Through this film he hopes to draw attention to the Ugandan families who live on rubbish dumps. It tells the story of a teenager, Zonto, who lives in such an area and is passionate about rap music. Thanks to his passion, he is able to bring a little light to the residents of his neighbourhood.
