With "Les Voix de l'Abbaye", the Abbaye aux Dames is committed to a relationship of trust with artists, supporting them in their development and giving them strong backing for their projects. This residency programme is aimed at both emerging and established musicians, in all styles: early or new music, jazz, folk or contemporary music, acoustic or electronic.
The artists selected will have five days of actual work, depending on the project, to which must be added one day dedicated to a mediation and exhibition activity.
These work and creation residencies will enable the selected artists and companies to begin, stage or finalise a musical project.
These residencies also pay close attention to the relationship between music and the five senses, space and gesture. A significant presence of vocal music in the projects presented is imperative, whatever their form.
With co-production funding, these residencies must be accompanied by a "carte blanche" stage performance (short musical session + discussion with the audience) and an outreach initiative aimed at an audience defined with the CCR in agreement with the resident ensemble (schools, specialised education, healthcare, prisons, local businesses, ...).
